Leadership Philosophy

I believe leadership means setting an example, acting with integrity, and putting others first. A good leader empowers others by building trust, communicating clearly, and creating space for growth. Leadership is a daily practice of learning, adapting, and serving with purpose.

So What Is a Leader And How Do You Become a Leader?

Leadership is one of the most important and challenging roles a person can take on. Being a leader means carrying the responsibility of setting the tone for those around you, knowing that your actions and attitude will either inspire or discourage others. A good leader leads by example, demonstrating integrity, courage, humility, and a strong work ethic in everything they do. Jesus Christ is the perfect example of leadership — He led with compassion, served selflessly, spoke truth boldly, and sacrificed Himself for the good of others. True leaders, like Jesus, often make a difference in the lives of those around them without even realizing it, simply through their daily actions and faithfulness. Becoming a leader starts with small, daily choices: consistently doing the right thing even when it’s hard, taking initiative without waiting to be asked, and caring about the success of the team more than personal recognition. The difference between a leader and someone who is not a leader often comes down to selflessness, accountability, and the ability to influence others positively. True leaders are critical because they create direction, build trust, and help a group overcome challenges that would be impossible to face alone.

Personal Summary

Work Experience

I began working in sixth grade on my uncle’s dairy farm, where I gained four years of experience. For the past three years, I have been employed part-time as a milker at PJV Farms, where I was recognized as both the youngest and the fastest employee to complete training. In addition to my work at PJV, I have completed two summers of part-time construction work and plan to return this coming summer. Recently, I was also offered a part-time position operating tractors and performing fieldwork, which I will balance alongside my other roles as I save for university.

Hobbies

Over the past three years, I have been dedicated to working out, during which time I have lost over 40 pounds and built significant muscle mass. Fitness is something I am passionate about, and I plan to continue making it a priority throughout my life. In addition to fitness, I enjoy snowmobiling, mountain biking, fishing, and have been golfing recreationally for the past three years, although I am still improving. I had hoped to join the Unity golf team this year, but due to my busy schedule and the financial commitment of saving for university, I decided to prioritize other responsibilities.

My Faith Journey

I grew up in a Christian home and have been part of a Christian community for my entire life. I always understood that God loved me and that I loved Him because He first loved me, but it took me time to fully understand why. During my middle school years, I began wrestling with bigger philosophical questions about God. I never asked anyone about these questions because I was worried about being a burden, and I feared that sharing my doubts might cause others — including my parents and pastors — to question their own faith, something I wanted to avoid. As a result, I kept my struggles to myself and eventually fell into a depression, feeling distant from God and picking up unhealthy habits. I started questioning God's goodness and even struggled with the concept of eternity, which felt overwhelming and frightening. At the same time, the COVID-19 pandemic deeply impacted my mental health; I couldn’t go to school, visit family, attend church, or participate in youth group. It wasn’t until after COVID that I began rebuilding my faith. I started going to the gym, which helped improve my mental health, and reconnected with a childhood friend who was passionate about both fitness and his faith. I began attending church with him, and that’s when my faith truly reignited. Together, we challenged each other to grow, and my prayer life and Bible reading slowly became more consistent. I also became involved in church events and summer service camps, where I could feel the Holy Spirit working in me. I continued to push myself spiritually and encouraged my friends to do the same. Today, my relationship with God is stronger than ever. Although I still experience His presence in waves, I have learned to trust that He is always by my side, even through the hardest times.
