Leadership Roles Within The Unity Community
Grade 7 Class
This year, I’ve had the privilege of working in Ms. Jacobs’ Grade 7 math class, where I support students not only with their academic challenges but also by being someone they can turn to personally. This experience has deepened my commitment to personal growth, as I’ve come to realize that in order to be a positive role model for them, I must continue striving to improve myself.
EduDeo Spirit Run
I have the privilege of organizing Unity Christian’s Middle School Spirit Run this year—an organized 5K run where students seek sponsors to donate toward EduDAO, a Christian organization that provides low-cost, transparent funding for underfunded education-related organizations. Our goal is to raise both awareness and support for EduDAO’s mission and support learning for those around the world.
Outdoor Education
In Outdoor Education, my class and I studied avalanche and winter safety. Although I was already certified with my Level One Avalanche Course, the review was a valuable refresher. As a class, we led a trip to Manning Park with the middle school students, where we taught them shelter building and avalanche safety. I was responsible for teaching proper use of rescue equipment in the event of an avalanche.
Makers Space
Since the start of the second semester, I’ve been running a Middle School Makerspace in the library every Monday at lunch. It began as a LEGO club where students could build freely, express their creativity, and connect with me in a relaxed environment. We’re now transitioning into a robotics club, where students will start learning basic programming skills and exploring how robots work. The goal is to encourage critical thinking and inspire students to express their ingenuity.
